Introduction to Web Design Brief: Assignment 01: Establish a Blog

Aim: This project allows students to explore current web blogging platforms and to establish their own
personal online blog.

Brief: What is a blog? You are to research and investigate free on-line blogging platforms with the aim
of developing your own blog to use throughout your remaining studies at CIT. There are various options
that can be explored - Post your finings on the learn discussion "Blogging platforms" in week 1 section.
Your response should contain at least 4 options with some of the pro and cons of each platform or
system. From your finings create and establish your own blog - create your first post including an image.
Try to experiment with options available to you find an appropriate aesthetic. Respond to the elearn
forum in week 2 with your blog URL.

Between week 2 and week 16 your task is to post at least 15 posts to your blog – Your blog should
focus on photography – posts could be research conducted for your project work, links to relevant
content or tutorials or your own photographic work. The concept of this assignment is to get you used to
using online content management systems and too explore the options and possibilities. Try to make
your content as interesting as possible and use images where possible. Do not leave this assignment to
the last minute it is to be on ongoing project throughout the semester. Careful what you post: save the
social stuff for Facebook and keep this blog focused on professional promotion. You are not required to
purchase hosting or domain names – there are free alternatives that include hosting with some
limitations.
